Interconnections
Interconnection is the critical bridge between infrastructure and operation. These connections not only enable the physical flow of energy, but also shape the commercial, technical, and regulatory framework under which a project operates.
We manage the full process of developing and executing interconnections—coordinating utilities, regulators, pipeline operators, and technical consultants to ensure energy is delivered when and where it is needed.
How We Help You Deliver with Confidence
Power Interconnections
We handle the technical and regulatory processes required to connect generation assets to the grid or directly to the data centre facility. This includes utility coordination, T&D and municipal interconnection applications, load flow modeling, system impact studies, and detailed design of switchgear, protection, and metering systems.
Our role is to ensure the electrical connection meets both utility requirements and data centre uptime expectations.
Fuel Interconnections
On the fuel side, we manage interconnection to natural gas systems, whether through a local distribution company, midstream pipeline, or utility-owned infrastructure. This includes permitting, tie-in design, right-of-way planning, metering stations, and pressure regulation equipment.
Fuel interconnection planning also considers pressure and flow requirements, compressor needs, odorization systems, and balancing provisions. These elements are critical to the stability and responsiveness of gas-fired generation assets.
Unlike power interconnections, which often depend on grid permissions and protection schemes, fuel interconnections must account for physical routing, land use, trenching, and alignment with dispatch profiles. We coordinate all stakeholders to ensure fuel arrives in the right quantity, at the right pressure, and with the reliability necessary for firm generation.
Regulatory and Permitting Coordination
We manage all technical filings and permitting required by utilities, pipeline regulators, and municipal authorities. This includes pipeline approvals, utility connection agreements, gas transmission applications, and electrical facility permit submissions.
Technical Interface and Utility Negotiation
We serve as the interface between the project and utility stakeholders, representing the developer’s interests in technical negotiations, scope definitions, and interconnection agreements. Our deep understanding of both energy systems and data centre operations allows us to translate technical constraints into actionable solutions.
Designed for Growth and Flexibility
We future-proof interconnections by designing for N+1 or 2N capacity, dual feeds, redundant fuel routes, and scalable voltage classes. Whether the project grows in phases or transitions to hybrid energy models over time, the interconnection design is built to adapt.
